Application Procedures

Applications are processed for completeness before anything else.  The application process is lengthy due to the complex nature of the materials.  Complete application packets include the following:

  • Completed Application

  • Student- and parent-signed contract

  • Transcripts

  • Test scores

  • Student class schedule

  • Counselor Recommendation

  • Tax Form or parent-signed income documentation

After completed, applications are reviewed in depth, including all counselor recommendations as well as the applicants personal essay.  After this initial step, applicants are personally interviewed by staff.  After successfully completing the interview, the student's parents are contacted and interviewed as well.

After the parent interview, applications are either accepted on a trial basis (if there is an open spot), wait-listed (if no spots are available, but staff agrees that applicant would be a good participant), or rejected.  Applicants are sent letters informing them of their application status.

Trial basis acceptance allows the student to "try-on" the program while allowing staff more time to evaluate whether or not the student is a good "fit" for the program.  During this trial period, students are required to attend all weekly school visits and the monthly Saturday meeting.  Students do not receive stipend during the trial period.  The trial period lasts 60 days, after which students are notified of acceptance, rejection or, in some cases, extension of the initial trial period.
