Supplemental Instruction or SI is a unique in that it is half
instruction and half study group. A student who has taken
and passed a specific course with an A and has a 3.0 GPA will
re-take that same course again, develop lesson plans based on that
week's content, and holds set office hours and three outside study sessions each week to
assist students who are having difficulty with the course.
Traditionally, SI targets core curriculum classes that students
tend to have difficulty with.

The SI
program targets the content and allows for student/SI interaction.
The SI is able to pass along his or her knowledge about the
specific instructor, i.e. that the professor gives test questions
on the supplemental readings or the instructor enjoys student
discussion. The SI can provide the group with little clues
about how the professor deals with the course material and the
class itself. All this information sharing leads to greater
success in the course for SI participants. SI is
a free service.
