The basic scholarship for Bonner Scholars is
$2,100 per academic year. This amount is distributed to students
through monthly checks of $262.50 upon submission of completed timesheets.
The amount of the basic scholarship
is deceptive, however, as there are many perks. Consider:
- - If a student is awarded Federal Work Study,
this can be paired with the Bonner Scholarship and students can count
their service hours for both programs. Union College awards up to
$1,500 per student per academic year.
- - Upon successful completion of each of the 2
required summers of service, Bonner Scholars receive an additional
$1,500 scholarship on their financial aid award.
- - Each Bonner Scholar has access to $1,000 per
summer of service to assist with travel and living expenses.
- - Senior Bonner Scholars may qualify for an
additional $500 to assist with their summer of service expenses.
- - Students who graduate as Bonner Scholars are
eligible for up to $1,600 in loan reduction from the program.
- - When it is available to the program,
students may enroll in the AmeriCorps Bonner Leaders Program for up to
an additional $2,362.50 education award from the Federal government.
