“Tell me, and I will forget,

show me and I will remember,

involve me and I will Understand.”

What is Service Learning?

Service Learning is a combination of learning and community service designed for mastering knowledge and developing citizenship skills.
When Service Learning is used in the classroom, students become more aware of what is going on in the world around them.   They also are able to take what they learn, and put it into action.
The chart below, provided by the Bonner Foundation, gives a picture of different kinds of service that can be done for an issue that is being taught.   For an in depth look at teaching service learning and ideas for activities, visit the Bonner Foundation Website.
