National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is celebrated annually the week before Thanksgiving .  The purpose of the week is to educate students on the issues of hunger and homelessness.  At Union College, students are given the opportunity both learn and participate.  During the week, a Hunger Banquet is held, providing an interactive learning experience about world hunger and poverty.  Also, students can participate in making a difference by donating to a canned food drive to benefit the local food pantry or by donating pennies through a Penny Harvest to benefit a family in another country with the gift of livestock through Heifer International.
